Victoria Mann

In Loving Memory Of Victoria Mann Victoria Marchant Mann went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2018 at the age of 101 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 39 years, Hershell “Bud” Mann and two sisters, Ruth Marchant Wallace and Jeane Marchant Jones, and one granddaughter, and one niece. She is survived by 6 children, Virginia Moreno, John Mann, Victoria Weber, Thenell Hanggi, Hershell Mann, and Frank Mann. She also is survived by 22 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, Reece Lewis and John Ralph Mann, 4 great-nephews, 4 great-nieces, 3 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew, and 1 great-great-great niece. Victoria was born in Berkeley, California on June 21, 1917 to Harris and Ada Marchant. In 1919, Harris relocated his family to Los Angeles to be near his parents, Thomas and Anne Victoria Marchant of Ohio, who had permanently settled in Los Angeles and purchased a beach house at 44 Strand, Hermosa Beach. Thomas served as city attorney and municipal judge in the 1920’s and 30’s. Victoria spent summers there and in 1928 she spent the year there and attended Pier Avenue School. In her youth, Victoria joined the Girl Scouts and Job’s Daughters, and attended the 1932 Olympics at the Memorial Coliseum. She spent many happy holidays at the family cabin in Pine Cove near Idyllwild, California. Victoria married Hershell Mann on December 27, 1935. The couple moved to 44 Strand in 1938. While living over 80 years in the South Bay, Victoria was active in the Women’s Club, Republican Women’s Club, the El Redondo chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and served as President of South School PTA. In 1970, Victoria received certification as an early childhood educator. With the help of her daughter Thenell, she opened and directed the Sand Castle Pre-School at 44 Hermosa Avenue. In 1978 she helped open and taught at Voyager’s Christian School in Huntington Beach and in 1985 was the pre-school director for Community Baptist Church of Manhattan Beach. In 1973 Victoria gave her life to Jesus Christ, was baptized, and joined Chapel by the Sea of Manhattan Beach and started attending Mount Hermon Christian Camp in Santa Cruz every summer. Much to her joy, twenty-five of her family members have attended Biola University. In 1990 Victoria retired and split her residence to live with her daughter part-time in Temecula California. While there, she attended Rancho Baptist Church of Temecula, the Luiseno Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Republican Women’s Club, the Christian Women’s club, the Rose Society, the Victorian Tea Society, and the Genealogical Society. Victoria was a deeply loving, tremendously generous, faith-filled woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Entrusted to the care of Beach Cities Cremation Society (888) 337-2646
